Trusted Judgment, Proven Leadership
www.perrymcguire.com – New Website – Find out more about Perry’s dynamic campaign!
Dear Fellow Georgians –
I’m Perry McGuire, and I’m proud to be a candidate this year for the Georgia Court of Appeals. Trusted Judgment, Proven Leadership is my campaign theme, and I look forward to sharing with you my record of public service and legal experience.
My campaign team and I are pleased to announce our new website – www.perrymcguire.com. Please visit the site, see what we’re doing, and let me know if you can help! In the coming days, we’ll announce a preliminary list of Georgia leaders who have endorsed my campaign for Court of Appeals – you’ll recognize these leaders as men and women of integrity, and I am honored by their support. We’re in this race to win this race, but we’ll need your help to make that happen.
The Court of Appeals is critical to Georgia justice. The vast majority of cases that go up on appeal in our state – both criminal and civil – are decided at the Court of Appeals. For most, it’s the last court to consider the issues.
I believe Georgians deserve and demand judges with exceptional qualifications and experience who will deal fairly and impartially in all cases. As Governor Sonny Perdue has said, “The most important qualification of any judge is good judgment, and good judgment comes from experience.” For two decades I have been involved in diverse legal disciplines ranging from litigation, to complex business transactions, to child welfare issues, to simple legal counseling. I have real-world experience in matters that regularly come before the court. See my qualifications: www.perrymcguire.com/most qualified
Proven Leadership
- 2006 Republican nominee for Georgia Attorney General
- First Republican State Senator elected to my district in Douglas, Carroll Counties
- Appointed by Gov. Sonny Perdue to Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice Board
- Supported tougher child predator laws, longer mandatory minimum sentences for violent crimes, and parole reform.
- Ethics in government – I support new disclosure requirements for judges and the lawyers who practice before them.
- Founder, State Bar Franchise Section – working with business development
Trusted Judgment
I will not favor a criminal defendant or a slip-and-fall plaintiff before the first shred of evidence is presented.
I respect the laws as written – and I will not re-write them by the power of the judge’s pen based on an ideological agenda. I favor the traditional approach of ‘judicial restraint.
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito provide terrific models for judicial fairness, clarity, and strength of commitment to the U.S. Constitution. I intend to follow that example as the next Georgia Court of Appeals judge.
Can You Help?
In less than 90 days, you will be asked to vote for Court of Appeals. There are currently seven candidates for this important open seat, and no incumbent. “Perry McGuire” is listed 5th among the alphabetical order. As one of our supporters suggested to me last week, “Tell people to ‘plead the Fifth’ to remember that Perry is listed fifth among the candidates!” Please watch for it.
Thank you again for your time and support – we’ll keep you updated on campaign developments – and please visit regularly at www.perrymcguire.com!
God bless.
Perry McGuire
